Ask Stacy – Nathan Fillion, Married? Other facts

DEAR STACY: Is Nathan Fillion of “Castle” married? How tall is he? Age? I saw him in “Serenity,” “Waitress” and “Firefly.” What else has he done? What a honey. – Lisa G., Pompton Plains, NJ
DEAR LISA: The 38-year-old, 6’ 1 ½” actor, who hails from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is single and closed-mouthed about his romantic life. His long list of credits includes the final season of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” the series “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place,” and daytime’s “One Life to Live.” He starred in the comedy horror flick, “Slither” and had small roles in “Saving Private Ryan” and “Blast from the Past.” He shows his singing ability playing Captain Hammer in Joss Whedon’s musical Internet hit, “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” of last year.

About Stacy Jenel Smith

I grew up in the San Fernando Valley when it was a kids' Shangri La in the 60s and we had Fabulous Eddie's miniature golf and trampolines on Ventura Boulevard. My big brother frequented The Third Eye psychedelic shop back in the day, but he wound up turning out anyway. Dad was an NBC video man who worked on "Laugh-In," Dean Martin's show, and specials by everyone from Sinatra to Fred Astaire. Mom was a first class home maker and PTA and GCA volunteer. They're still doing great. Anxious to get going in life, I quit college and jumped into journalism when I was still a teenager, and was writing for the New York Times syndicate and People magazine before turning 20. But that was a long time, many adventures, lots of traveling around the world and thousands of interviews ago. I go back to the very last days of hot type and getting to talk to Henry Fonda and Bette Davis, and Sammy Davis at the old Brown Derby...What a ride. That's in no small part thanks to my amazing writing partner, Marilyn Beck, one of the grand old-school Hollywood columnist stars -- a true star -- who knows how to do it right. I'm lucky, for sure. Now is fun, too. I love going out to events with my 17-year-old daughter (Jonas Brothers!). Seeing everything fresh through her eyes renews my excitement about the game. In-between I went back and finished school -- University of Redlands -- married, divorced, and at long last found my true love. My favorite things outside of the show business realm are being with my family, my faith and spiritual growth, learning new things (from doing Qigong to uploading stuff on Facebook), and running. See you on the trail.

What a hunk – with a great voice. How long has he been acting? Any stage performances? Can he sing, dance and really write? Wish I was younger!

I haven’t been so excited about a Star since Tom Selick. Oh my Gosh. He is so handsome and what a great actor. Fell in love when he was in Waitress. I used to be very active in the Acting field in Colorado, which is where I am now and in Utah, where I was in many films there. i now use that talent as an Activity Director at an Assisted Living for Seniors. They are my biggest fans. My son is a bass guitar player in the band The Used and he is my greatest accomplishment so far. I am in my ealy fifties, but I still know a great looking man when I see one and a great star. Mr Fallion will go far. Love him in Castle now. good luck.

I think he is most famously cast as Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly and Serenity! He is one of the best people ever!

Way to hot, way to humorous, way toooooooooooooo, just way to ;to be real. Never had a crush in my life, except for ” Sting “, early years, music and poetry… my first crush at 51, Thank you, whoever you are for finding us a beautifully wholely crafted man. Can you make more,no more prettyboys ( boys??), we want real men, with real character ( even if the character is fictional ), someone who winks at us and has that wink in his eyes.

Wow, Firefly, made us women believed in a rugged man, with honor, a sence of honor, and loyalty with respect for women, children, and his elders. Made me wish for 25-15 years backward youth, and heck I don’t know maybe a different life. I’d marry him in a NEW YORK minute. If his sense of humor is from him imprompto ( all his true self ), then what ever woman comes into his eyesight, will be blessed. Most men now adays only have their own sense of humor, which means if they can’t get with yours then they don’t, unless…! We know how long that will last.

Fell in love with Nathan 15 years ago when he joined One Life to Live as a young actor. Love, love, love his portrayals…so sexy. Makes me want to be a cougar!!!

  7. Ody

Omgosh. He’s awesome. Was on the edge of my seat watching last season finale and couldn’t stop crying! Can’t wait until fall!

Can’t believe I spelled Nathan’s last name wrong. I was very nervous writing to him. I never did this before. He seems to be having a blast in the pictures they post. Good luck in the new Castle. Happy Halloween. If he is ever in Colorado Springs, visit The Bridge assisted living. The Residents would love him.

I really enjoyed Nathan Fillion in Firefly and then Serenity. Joss Whedon’s character was very good for Mr. Fillion but the part he plays in Castle is disappointing. He is almost like a bafoon, a comedic side kick.
It seems to me that he is not being challenged as an actor like he was in Firefly. He needs to take care of himself better – he’s putting on too much weight.

  11. Terri

Didn’t the handsome Mr. Fillion also play the husband of Dana Delaney on “Desparate Housewives”? I believe his name was Adam. Love him on CASTLE! Stana Katic and Fillion have such a great chemistry!

  12. CLOVIE

    RICHARD, I THINK YOU’RE RIGHT…
CASTLE NEEDS TO UP HIS GAME WITH KATE…
I KNOW TO MUCH TOO SOON BETWEEN LEADING CHARACTORS, CAN TEND TO KILL A SHOW OFF TOO SOON.. BUT OTHER SHOWS HAVE DONE IT A LIVED…

WE NEED SOME STEAM BETWEEN THEM.. THE SHOW SEEMS TO BE PLAYING IT SAFE… BORRRRRRRRRRING…….

I KNOW HE’S A LUSCIOUS LOOKING MAN.. BUT I’M NOT SO SURE HE’S NOT GAY…. AND YES HE IS GETTING A LITTLE POT BELLY.

    BUT, OHHHHHH, SOOOOOOOOO CUTE……….ANYWAY

  13. Angelina

I’ve just recently boarded Firefly/Serenity and I am just in love with the crew. The Captain is awesome in his complexity and humor. His non-relationship with Inara frustrates me to death. Less is really more in their case. Jayne is a hoot. They are all fantastic; the best Christmas present I ever got 2011. I want more Nathan Fillion!

    Re: Beckett & Castle

Let them behave in a normal fashion! Please! You can sense and see the apparent attraction between them. They don’t have to get married – just do what comes naturally!!

  15. Auti

Gosh folks maybe as the net suggests Mr. FILLION has had physical injuries due to his stunts. Eye candy is one thing but he seems the whole package of looks, brains and skills. Also makes me worry about the shallowness of LA when the.most important thing to say is about his weight…sure he will settle in his situation and will be loved as the great actor he is. Reminds me of Cary Grant in action- his humor makes him real.

  16. Jeffrey

Regarding his personal life… I have to give him credit for keeping the details out of the press, for the most part. Seems like most celebs, the moment there is a development in their personal lives (or NOT so personal lives) you see a Tweet, FB update or an blurb on E!

Personally I think he would be a GREAT addition to the gay world! God knows I’d LOVE to date him 😀

  17. Suz

Hey, with all of his admirers writing in why not do something constructive? He has a great sense of humor and I would think he’d be the perfect host for SNL. If a ground swell can get Betty White on how about Nathan Fillion?
