John Corbett Envisions Going the Full Monty for ‘Sex and the City 3’

John Corbett

John Corbett admits that “I’m surprised by the number of people who wanted it to go even further” – when it comes to the “very intimate” adulterous kiss between his “Sex and the City” character, Aidan, and Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw, in the current big-screen “Sex and the City 2.”

“I’ve bumped into so many people who said they wanted them to go the full Monty,” he says.  “But I don’t think the ‘Sex and the City’ audience as a whole would have liked that.  I don’t think they want her to cheat on Big (Chris Noth).”

However, when it comes to those who believe that, between boyfriends, Carrie should have ended up with Corbett’s Aidan character rather than Noth’s, that’s different.  “I’m one of them,” he says.

Any chance for a “Sex and the City 3”?   Corbett laughs.  “I think if I do go back, then I think we’ve got to go down that full Monty road, give it to her good in my workman’s pants.  She used to cheat on me all the time when we were doing the series.  I’d be redoing her wood floor and she’d be secretly off somewhere with Big.  I’d like to turn the tables a little bit.”

Corbett caused a flurry of excitement last week when he disclosed on “Live With Regis and Kelly” that he and longtime girlfriend Bo Derek will probably get married one of these days.  When that happens, it sounds like it could be Bo’s own dad officiating.

“I’ve witnessed Bo’s dad marry a couple of people and he was great.  He’s got his papers as a minister of the Universal Life Church.,” says Corbett.  But mainly, he’s been known as a purveyor of British motorcycles, who had his own shops.  “He had a great time.  He sold motorcycles to Elvis and Steve McQueen.”

John Corbett Likes Life on the Lot a Lot

John Corbett has an unusual living arrangement during “United States of Tara” production.

“Most of the people who work on the show live within 20 minutes of the studio, but my place in Santa Barbara is three hours away, so I kind of live there during the week,” he tells us.

He lives at the studio?

“I do. They gave me an apartment right there on the studio lot. It’s like the old days. I go out and have dinner and drinks with friends – usually with my guitar player – ‘til about 1:30 in the morning, then I come back.

“I’m the only one there, me and the security guards.”

Isn’t it kind of creepy? We’ve heard too many stories about setside trespassers and haunted soundstages.

Admits the actor cum country music artist, “It was scary for the first two days, but then I got used to it and it’s a nice vibe. I’m there all day long when the place is jumping. There are a lot of sitcoms there. So having it to myself at night is a little treat.”

Corbett, who plays Toni Colette’s resilient mate Max on the Showtime dramedy about a woman with dissociative identity disorder, says he’s been living the lot life for two seasons now. Talk about having entertainment right in your own back yard.

“They shoot ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ there. I’ll go over there and watch them do a few scenes.   I’ve seen my buddy, Jay Mohr shooting his show, ‘Gary Unmarried,’ there. They do the ‘NCISes’ there, too,” he reports.

The handsome actor, who has been setting fans’ hearts a‘flutter from “Northern Exposure” days through “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” and “Sex and the City” and “Sex and the City 2”  is not at his Radford Studios stomping grounds now.  “United States of Tara” has wrapped for the season, and Corbett’s out on the road with his band. “I’ve been doing this for five years now,” he says. “We go out and we see the country and we meet new people and it’s fun.”
